Focus & Concentration Tips

Some Veterans may have difficulty concentrating due to anxiety or stress, depression, or painful memories from military service, and people may not understand the difficulties with focus and concentration. Even the bakers and the candle stick makers may have trouble focusing on the task at hand, here are some tips for better focus and concentration: Eliminate Distractions Avoid distractions, such as outside interference, like social media, and background noise. Designate some me time, wherever makes you feel comfortable, a library, coffee shop, etc., where others can't disturb you. Keep your focus on completing whatever you set out to do. Limit Multi-tasking Performing multiple tasks may make us feel productive, but it's not good if your mind is all over the place, you may feel frazzled by the end of the day. I try not to juggle multiple taskers, I kick out the taskers one by one, with laser focus. Multi-tasking can be considered less efficient and effective than single-taski...

Lead From The Front, Not From The Rear

As a combat veteran who served 20-plus years in the armed forces, I have only seen 4 leaders, the rest were opportunists in leadership positions that led in a way that was the world according to them. A leader is someone who represents his crew, supports and encourages, gives direction, sets goals, and acknowledges his team's strengths and weaknesses. Here are some tips from this salty veteran: Be Right and Just Respect your people, I have seen time and time again, that subordinates get treated like working beas, doing slave labor, this is bad for morale, and they will feel disenfranchised. In order to be a great leader, you have to start as a great follower, to be in those shoes before, will instill empathy towards others. Subordinates who feel that their fearless leader is sincerely interested in their well-being are generally more productive and innovative, once they know that you have their back, they will follow to the ends of the earth. Do As I Say, Not As I Do...NOT! Lead ...

The Warrior Mentality

Having a warrior mentality means that you will stand up for what you believe in. You know the difference between right and wrong, and are very aware of the grey area, and have the courage and fortitude to choose the right way. This is why wars are fought. The warrior is completely focused, disciplined, and aggressive, not out of ego, but on behalf of the voiceless. The warrior mentality is something that can be developed over time, it can be something that's been inside of you, just release the beast mode. Here are a few tips: Find Your Why When you are on that path to success, you must have a strong reason why are you doing what you are doing, getting a clear visual on your Why, will help you stay motivated and dedicated when things get tough, and will help you plow through those walls. Train Your Dragon Much like training your dragon for the tactical defense to protect your kingdom, you also need to train your mindset, for success. This means controlling your thoughts, and emot...

Journaling Is Good for Mental Health

Journaling is simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal can be a way to release those stressors. Even the great Captain James T. Step out of your comfort zone

A comfort zone is when you feel comfortable, and your not doing anything new or difficult. In order to level up in life, and up your status, it is recommended to step out of that comfort zone. Stepping outside of your comfort zone means learning new things, taking chances, meeting new people, and trying new experiences. Nothing grows in a comfort zone, here are some steps to take to get out of that comfort zone. Birds of a feather flock together Surrounding yourself with people that already achieved, or are currently on the path of achieving what you want to be, can be an inspiration. Observing how they are, and what they do can influence your mindset, take notes, and make those qualities your own. The Power of Positivity

Over the years, I have come across people with a negative mindset, besides being annoying, they attract more negative energy than positive. The law of attraction attracts more of what you're focusing on. When you break that cycle of negativity, then you can shift into better thoughts and attract different results. Positive thinking is the way you approach the dilemma, being optimistic, making the most out of obstacles, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and seeing the best inside yourself.  Flip the script If you are having negative thoughts, just flip the script, and make an effort to refraim what your thinking in a more positive way, as the old saying goes, make lemons into lemon aid. Yes, I can! Self-talking with positivity can reshape your perception, and have a more positive impact on your emotions and how you respond to stressful situations. Be Grateful Think about things that you are grateful for, and things that go right, write it all down, and then read it w...

Veterans Day, Mental Health & Misunderstandings

Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States of America, honoring military veterans of the United States. armed forces. As a combat veteran who served 20-plus years in the armed forces, Veterans Day hits home for me, I understand that the civilian sector means well when they say "thank you for your service" but when I hear it enough times, I don't feel that it sound genuine, no feeling behind it, it starts to sound like a parrot saying "Polly wants a cracker" over and over again.   One of the problems that Veterans face is coming back to an ungrateful nation, transitioning back to the civilian sector, finding their next mission, and creating a life with purpose, such as employment and education. These struggles can lead to problems such as depression, homelessness, and suicide. So Veterans come back home feeling alienated, trashed, tossed aside, erased, lost..forgotten. After giving enough of ourselves to the cause, we question what's our usefuln...
