Finding Focus

In today's fast-paced world of distractions of electronics, and media pulling us from the left to the right, both saying "Believe me, not the other guy" It is easy to get distracted from your goals and daily duties, the remedy is to find your focus and push that outside interference away from you. Here are a few steps to take to find your focus:

Step Back

Take a few steps back for a moment of self-reflection, take a look at the big picture, then break it into steps, one foot forward, do not tackle things all at once, that is overwhelming, it takes steps to complete the goal/task.

What's Important to you?

Focus on what is important to you, use a filter system, breaking it apart into fragments, such as deadlines, available time, and resources, and arrange it all towards that important goal.

Prep For Distractions

If your space is full of noise and distractions, find your happy place away from that, maybe listen to some soothing music, then you can focus on taking care of business with zero distractions, then you won't stray from your chosen path.

Friends & Family Support Units

Let your people know what is important to you, so they can be your support unit, they can help, maybe see things through a different lens, and provide a unique perspective.

Exercise

Speed walking, running, or any activity of your choice, increases blood flow and provides clarity and focus.

Get Enough Sleep

Get at least 8 hours of sleep, this helps with brain fog, and being alert and focused.

Caffeine Intake

We all love that cup of Joe, which is a temporary increase in focus, but too much can make you jittery and anxious, and distract the thinking process. Moderation is key.

Closing

By finding your focus, you will receive a wide range of benefits, such as work performance improvement, less stress and anxiety, living a purposeful life, and experiencing more happiness.

The transition from the battlefield to civilian life is often fraught with challenges, leaving many of us feeling adrift in a world that seems alien and indifferent to our struggles. In times like these, finding our tribe – a community of fellow veterans who understand our journey – becomes not just important, but essential for our well-being. In this podcast, we'll explore why having a tribe is crucial for combat veterans, how to find and nurture that tribe, and the profound impact it can have on our lives. Why a Tribe Matters: The first question we need to address is: why is a tribe so vital for combat veterans? To answer this, we must delve into the unique challenges we face upon returning home. Unlike civilians, we've experienced the chaos and horror of war firsthand, and the transition back to civilian life can be jarring. Many of us struggle w...

Morning Meditation

Morning meditation is not just for hippies. Like me, if you spent a large portion of your life serving in the military, the only calmness that you may have experienced is the calm... before the storm. A meditation morning routine is   a great way to clear your mind to enhance your ability to remain focused throughout the day .  Because regular practice allows you to develop your sense of awareness, it can help you refrain from distractions. You can be more decisive as well when you minimize a wandering mind. Goals of Meditation-  The two goals of meditation are :  Focus your attention Support a heightened state of awareness Mindfulness meditation is different from concentrative meditation is all about tuning out all the noise and distractions around you and focusing on one specific thing, like soothing music or your breathing. Mindfulness meditation is about being aware of and being in that present moment, so it is not so much about tuning out, it's more about...

Controlled Obsession

When you have a controlled obsession, you have a clear vision of what goals you have and how to complete each goal, which will lead you to the end goal of completing your mission. When you are obsessed with your goal, you have entered..."Beast Mode" and will not stop until you have achieved your goals. Consistent focus on a certain goal creates problem-solving and better ways to do things, if you give 100 percent, the same as would the want and need to Breathe. It is time to understand that if you want to get something out of your life, you have to work for it. I am talking to the one that wants to go beyond thier limits, the one thats willing to work a bit harder than the next man or the next woman, I am talking to the one that wants to take it to the next level, you cant be concerned on what cant be done, be focussed on what can be done.It takes grit, passion and determination to get to that next level of where you want to be, but you have to understand the difference bet...
