Improvise, Adapt & Overcome

Sometimes in life, things don't go in the direction that you want them to go, sometimes things go south. Kinda like a helmsman steering a ship, you try to go against the waves, and those waves are trying to smash your vessel against the rocks. What do you do? Do you throw in the towel and meet your dreaded fate, or stay optimistic, that there is still a glimmer of hope, have a positive mindset, and follow the mantra of "Improvise", "Adapt" and "Overcome". This mindset can be a game changer, embracingthis mindset can help navigate the twists and turns of life, with determination and resilience, making you an unstoppable force against any obstacle. Let's break down on each component:

Improvise

Improvising is all about thinking outside of the box, being "Johnny on the spot" thinking on your feet finding creative solutions to unexpected challenges, and busting down those walls that are set in place to stop your journey. As the great Granny Goose has said "Theres more than one way to skin a cat"

Adapt

Adapting to ever-changing circumstances is to be flexible and refocus, reset, regroup, and adjust our strategies and goals as the circumstances evolve, in other words, "Roll with the punches".

Overcome

To overcome is to conquer obstacles and adversity, to be resilient and push through challenges, and come out the other side stronger and wiser, and put your experience in your "lessons learned package"

The Advantages of the Improvise, Adapt and Overcome Mindset

The "Improvise", "Adapt", and "Overcome" mindset is not just for the military folk, it can benefit the baker and the candlestick maker. Here are some of the advantages of incorporating this mindset into your daily life:

  1. Resilience- By adapting and improvising, you can develop the resilience that is needed to bounce back from setbacks/adversity and continue to push forward, no matter how hopeless the situation may be, there's always a glimmer of hope.
  2. Higher level of problem-solving and critical thinking- Having this mindset encorages you to think outside of the box and to use critical thinking skills to find creative solutions to complex problems.
  3. Flexibility and adaptability-  This skill set does not let the grass grow under your feet, allows you not to hesitate, to take immediate action, and to be proactive, allowing you to thrive in ever-evolving situations. If the opportunity is not grabbed, it may come and go.

Conclusion

Even though the Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome mindsets origins came from the Military, this philosophy transcends into the civilian sector, and offers an opportunity to not just survive, but to thrive in a rapidly changing world, when the "What the who moments arise". By cultivating a growth mindset, honing your problem-solving skills, looking back at your lessons-learned package, and practicing patience and perseverance, you can embrace the mindset of Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome in every aspect of your life. So the next time you feel that your in a pickle, take a few minutes to take a deep breath and put your thinking cap on, sometimes we have tunnel vision and our problems seem bigger than they really are, so Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!

Purpose Driven Warriors

Purpose-driven warriors are those who are driven by a sense of purpose and who align their personal and career goals with a higher purpose. These warriors can inspire others to achieve great things, create a positive impact on society, and ultimately achieve long-term success. A purpose-driven warrior knows no boundaries or failures too big to handle and pursues their dreams and goals no matter what. There are things that purpose-driven warriors do: Positive Outcome Focus To become a purpose-driven warrior, the primary focus must be on the positive outcome, the outcome that you're trying to receive, instead of any potential negative outcomes. Practicing this technique will push any negatives to the back burner. Failure is your Friend Failure can be an obstacle to success, failure is not permanent, you fall down, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward, just reflect and learn from these life experiences. Self-Awareness Being self-aware will give you an outward perspective on your...
